July 2015 –January 2016 What is geocaching? Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location. Participants can use a handheld GPS unit, or simply install an application on their smart phones. Many GPS units designed for automobiles can also be used for geocaching. Visit for more information. What is the Martin County Geocaching Trail? Geocaching points are set up at 10 locations across Martin County. At each location, unlock the treasure box (pictured in the lower right corner of the page)using the code provided below, take one coin per person, sign the log book (optional),and reset the combination by turning the dials to a different code. (Large groups such as summer camps,Scout groups and 4-H Clubs, take one coin per location to represent your whole group.) When you collect all 10 coins, trade them in for a prize pack including souvenirs from Martin County and its towns! The geocaching locations will be changed every 6 months, so make sure you are using the current guide.
